It's as if Christmas came twice today. First of all, the twin terrors are not around today. Then, morning meetings are cancelled so there's no need to come in and faff. Amazingly three of us actually came in on time and are doing vaguely productive stuff. Well the other two are at any rate. I'm just dossing. Training last night was a tad painful. Coming off a big weekend, my legs were stuffed and back was tight from trying to rip my aerobars off while staying (or attempting to stay) on Stan's wheel on Sunday. Man that hurt like hell. So I had to fence Qing2, ZH and WW in the 1-v-3 team format that the Russian Concussion likes to have us do ahead of big comps. It started out badly with a 1-5 deficit with ZH and I got a bit rattled. Then flopped to 10-3 against Qing2 before clawing my way back to 10-15 against Mr Lim. From then on it was just grinding it out and getting back into it before finishing with the win at 45-38 I think. Given that I could barely move it wasn't that bad a day. Flopped on to the sofa and fell asleep during the Monday-night funnies on cable. Everything hurts now. Hopefully it will be enough for Sydney next weekend. Considering these are the boys I will have to face, and then some, you can bet it won't be easy. That's 2006 World Champion Wang Lei on the far right, and his team-mates (L to R) Xie Yong Jun and Tuo Tong. All scary buggers on the piste. I think we took this shot in Vancouver in 2004 when they had just qualified for the Athens Games. There was the whole strip-joint episode later that night...but that's another story. |
