Am finally back after a hectic week in Sabah...the competition went alright...finished 25th out of 64 in the individual...losing to Lu Min in the round of 32. We didn't do so hot in the team, losing to Iran in the first round. Other than that, it was an ok trip...didn't spend too much money, didn't get too drunk...so it was all good. I got back in on Friday and had my belated drinks thing in the evening at Soundbar...it went well I think...at least what I can remember of it. I got a bit hammered towards the end and fragments are coming back to me slowly...as is the embarrassment... sigh...But I hope everyone had fun. It's been a slightly strange weekend so far. My mom got back in yesterday and had an excellent holiday in Japan from what I gather. But I had a quiet day in for the most part yesterday...just chilling out in front of the tv and daydreaming. Today was pretty much the same except I squeezed in a couple of hours on the bike...that was weird too cuz my legs just wouldn't go round...after about 40km, they just filled up with lactic acid and stopped working and I had to grovel all the way home. Oh well...good days and bad days I guess. But it's just been weird...like a funny vibe hanging over me...impending something-or-other about to happen and all the sorta stuff...Danny is back though so that's pretty cool. Oh yeah Sun Times carried two columns today that I thought were good reading...Sumiko's piece on blogging and Iggie's one on singles being allowed to buy property with other singles both resonated with me...for different reasons of course. I was a bit sad after reading Iggie's piece cuz it pretty much confirms what Walter keeps telling me...I guess I've always known but it just sucks when yet one more friend tells me what I'm trying not to recognise. Sumiko's piece on the malice that can appear on the Internet was spot on too...fortunately I've grown a thick enough skin to be able to withstand the brickbats...at least that's what I keep telling myself ! Ah well...back to writing my feature then...hope everyone is having a good weekend. |
