Another FSI, another crappy result. Put in the same pool as Chez. Lost to Chez. Lost to Korean. Ranked 12th. Beat Taiwanese kid. Lost to (another) Korean. Chez finishes second after beating the Korean who knocks me out.
That was today in a nutshell.

I'm tired of being stuck in this losing vibe. Everytime I'm in a pressure situation and I'm up against someone I can beat, I manage to tighten up and perform below par, leaving me with yet more sour aftertaste in my mouth. Yes it wasn't bad fencing, yes I had my moments. But when it comes down to the sharp end of things, I haven't been able to pull it out of my ass.

Put me in a world cup and I fence much better, even against much tougher opposition. It's always the people that are at or slightly above my level that drive me crazy. Oh, and the legs aren't as sharp as they could be either.

So it was all a bit pants really. It was nice seeing so many competitors though, and I had a decent time fencing different people, when I wasn't losing that is. Ah well...it's back to the grindstone now...One cover-story, one column and two sidebars to get done by lunchtime tomorrow. Then it's plugging holes for the rest of the day, back to Woodlands in the evening and team competition on Friday. Ain't life grand.

At least there's champers Friday evening, and then the party after that. Man I need a drink.
