this blogsite lets me back in...it's been on the fritz recently, otherwise I would have posted something earlier.

I got back in on Tuesday evening, tired, frazzled and jetlagged. But I was SO glad to be back in the heat and humidity. I am not a very good cold-weather person.

So anyways, Europe wasn't that great. I was already wishing I was home on the way out to the airport, which is never a good sign. After the usual 13-hour ordeal (ameliorated by an upgrade on the way there), I got into a very snowy Stockholm. I even managed to avoid the strikes in Paris while in transit but was blighted by broken-down aircraft. Only a three-hour delay.

Fencing at the Bernadotte was dodgy, given my jetlagged and fatigued state, and I didn't make it out of the pools. At least I beat a Korean kid.

I was glad to get to Paris, which was cold but not that cold. But the waiting between the two tournaments, without the budget to go do normal holiday-type things like shopping and partying, was interminable.

I was getting grumpier and grumpier and just wishing I was home and by the time the competition rolled around I was in the process of giving myself a head-cold. Anyhow, it still went a bit better than Sweden and I kept myself in front of an Aussie and another Korean kid. Got beat by Alcarria of Spain in the 1st DE and finished in a crap position.

But at least I'm done. I was happy to head home and even the cattle-class ride back couldn't get me down. Two weeks is a long time to go overseas when you don't want to be there. And now it's back here to deal with all the stuff that's been going on in fencing. Bah. Seems like a lot of nonsense. Oh well. That's the way it goes sometimes I guess.

And the long weekend is here...time to get in some mileage. The old legs need a bit more strength I reckon.

Later.
