Another bronze medal in the team. We just can't seem to catch a break in South-east Asian level competitions and the guys and coach and myself had long talks about how we can get around this stumbling block, which is as much mental as it is linked to our physical condition and training. Ah well. It should hopefully be enough to get us to Manila at the end of the year and that was the main aim of the trip so all was not lost I guess. The place was a dump though...army-type accomodation, complete with metal lockers and paper-thin walls, communal toilets and cookhouse-style "buffet" meals that weren't as nice as the SFI stuff we get served now. Absolutely nothing to do and nowhere to go for miles around. I just have to say that it's good to be home ! Went to Emma's solo performance on Friday and it was very impressive. It was nice to see so many people from school and drinks at Happy later were amusing as well. Eugene's birthday on Saturday was good fun too although I must say that having had only three hours of sleep the previous night was probably a leetle short of what I actually needed. Oh well, what the heck. I'm taking a break now anyways. Coach is off to the US on Sunday, so I'm pretty sure things will wind down for awhile. It will give me a chance to get some physical preparation done in the next three weeks too. I was pleasantly surprised this morning that I've actually dumped some weight over the past couple of weeks...rather encouraging I must say ! I watched Closer yesterday and it's the best film I've seen in a long time. I've noticed that I seem drawn to movies about the fraility of men, their weaknesses, flaws and failures, and general crapness of the male psyche. I guess I can relate. And the opening theme song was achingly beautiful, but unavailable at That CD shops last night. So I went to sleep with it playing in my head. Speaking of sleep, I feel like a nap. I swear it has something to do with the office air. |
