Hmmm...this year feels just like the last one.

It was nice to cross the ole midnight hour in relatively chilled fashion at Iggie's place. Plus he had Jap noodles and Bundaberg on the rocks which did me just fine. It was funny chomping on my stogie with Az and Aud on the corridor outside the apartment, sticking our heads round the door at 12.03 and shouting happy new year, and then carrying on in the corridor.

Ken and Gerri's place before that was nice and relaxed too. Can't believe the gang stayed over until 5am. Man I thought we were supposed to be old.

Supper in Serangoon was kinda surreal...watching kids chuck up their New Year poison was gross and vaguely amusing at the same time.

But I had an early night and missed the slightly dramatic phone calls and smses proclaiming various health disasters. Luckily no one died.

The first day of the new year was spent helping mom get ready for her Hong Kong adventure and sorting out some chores at home, although I did manage to get in a 45 minute plod. Well it started out as a plod until some speed racer decided to overtake me. I spent four kilos hammering with him and damn near killed myself. I did actually kill my quads which wouldn't let me walk properly at Sunday's strength session at Clementi.

Surprisingly they don't hurt so much today. Must be the pills.

It was nice hanging out at HV last night. Reminded me of the old days when I couldn't walk 10 paces without bumping into friends. Walas was chock-full of amigos and hanging out with the fencing kiddos was good fun as always. I also saw Aussie Ruth, Glenys and boy, and a whole buncha blasts from the past which made me feel all warm and fuzzy.

It was a pretty early night though and I retired home to try and psyche myself up into competition mode. Watching Kolobkov kill someone usually does it for me but I was having trouble keeping my eyes open so I hit the sack early.

On a great note, I'm so happy that the boys kicked Myanmar last night. Dodgy discipline but the win is all that counts. And if you ask me, I'm GLAD they rioted. Shows they were pissed and that WE WON.

Makes me wanna compete again soon.
